People are always the first to go

Nestlé got a new CEO and for some fucking reason the first thing he does is start firing 16,000 employees. The stock market is in an uproar as Nestlé stock surges 7% with investors optimistic about the aggressive approach the new CEO has with an emphasis on growth. [link]

Guess who isn't optimistic? The 16,000 people who are about to lose their jobs because some shithead wants number to go up.

I am baffled by how indifferent these rich fucks are with the common man that when talking about growth, it's never pay our workers more or improve our products to be better and cheaper. It's all about pleasing the venture capitalist, the investors, the stockholders who don't contribute to the market. They don't build anything, they just throw money at anything people will pay for and demand they get more in return.

They are the cancer that eats away at society because, despite economic realities, the only thing that matters is growth.

Companies and Industries clearly need a work force. But they work with smaller rosters, and still expect that fewer people can produce the same output.

They expect you to work more for the same pay, and if you can't, they label you as lazy, ineffective, unmotivated. But reality is, companies need workers in the right numbers, and they need to pay them enough as well.

What kind of world is waiting for us when these fucking companies sell to people who can't buy because those companies don't hire.

It's absurd.

We are reaching the later stages of capitalism, with the strong push towards automation through AI, there is a strong campaign by the big wigs to push out the human element. Klarna a few months ago removed their customer representatives and adopted AI solutions. And hilariously begged for them to come back. Despite the happy ending, the working class should be very worried.

Locally here in Finland, the unemployment is surging to European records (2nd in terms of numbers), and this is accompanied by more and more cuts to social services. This simply means, more people are becoming unemployed and the government is cutting any means of helping them cope. Imagine being laid off and the government who taxes you refuses to help you live.

It's presented as cutting spending. But why is it always at the expense of people? Why are people always the first to go?

I am simply baffled and I can't wrap my head around this nonesense.
